Soccer Shots is Starting up Again!

Soccer Shots, the Nation’s premier intro-to-soccer program is getting ready to launch their Spring season at Mountain West Montessori Academy!”  Soccer Shots is the leader in youth soccer development for children ages 2-8.  With over 160 locations across North America, we are focused on positively impacting children’s lives and the communities we serve.  We are changing the lives of young people forever by teaching principles and life skills such as respect, honesty and teamwork.  Soccer Shots classes are fun, high energy and non-competitive.  Soccer Shots coaches are caring individuals who are positively impacting children’s lives through memorable experiences through the game of soccer.

Registration for our Spring season at Mountain West Montessori Academy is open on our website at  The program is for kids ages 5-8 and will be held at the school, outside on the east field (in the event of bad weather, class will be held indoors in the gymnasium).  Classes are every Wednesday, right after school until 4:00 pm and begin on April 13th.  The season runs for 7 weeks, concluding on May 25th.  All of the participants this spring receive an awesome Soccer Shots prize at the end of the season!  We provide all equipment so there is nothing you need to buy or have your children bring to the classes.  We will be having a free demo day at the school on Wednesday, March 30th, right after school in the gym.  If you want to learn more about Soccer Shots and have your children actually try a quick sample of our sessions, be sure to check us out then!  If you have any questions about Soccer Shots, feel free to contact us at  Thanks and we hope to see your children in Soccer Shots this Spring at Mountain West Montessori Academy!

Wizarding Club!

Dear Parents,

There is a new club at MWMA! A wizardry club (A.K.A Harry Potter Club).

The cost of the club will be $10 per person participating. This money will be going towards snacks, crafts, and new Harry Potter books for our school library.  The club will be after school, every other Monday from 3:15- 4:00 pm. The dates will be April 11th and 25th, May 9th and 23rd. The grades that can participate are, 3rd through 7th grades because of craft and reading difficulties for grades that are younger. If your child has an allergy please notify the front office, so we can buy additional snack that fits your child’s needs. Also, there will be a maximum of 20 people, so it will be first come first serve. We would love if your children could come.

      Thank You,

        The Wizardry Club Staff

MWMA is excited to host a nationally-renowned parenting author! SAGE Assessments

SAGE assessments are just around the corner.  Attached is Mountain West’s Assessment Philosophy with information on how we approach assessment within the school.

Lost and Found

There are a number of amazing coats and jackets and other nice items in our lost and found!  We are donating surplus items to charity later this week.  If your child is missing items, please check the lost & found in the lobby before Friday.

Land Trust Committee

We would like to welcome Jamie Treseder to the Land Trust committee.  If you have questions about the committee, land trust, or other school funding please do not hesitate to contact us.

Safety Reminders

We do practice fire drills year round at MWMA, and because we encourage students to exit the building quickly without stopping for personal items, we do not take time to change from slippers to shoes.  For this reason we ask that you provide your child with hard soled slippers appropriate for cold or wet weather.

We would like to remind families that our carpool lanes are a cell phone free zone.

We would also ask that you exercise caution and drive slowly during pick-up and drop-off.

We would like to remind families to use the crosswalk to cross from the front of school to the parking stalls.

Parents choosing to park in the parking stalls to pick-up or drop-off need to walk with their students to and from the cross walk in front of the school.

Parents, check out our Facebook page at

for current events as well as information about Montessori materials and philosophy!

Field Trips

Please note that field trip permission forms should be returned BEFORE THE DAY OF THE FIELD TRIP. We cannot honor a permission form that is brought on the morning of the field trip. The reason for this is that chaperone groups, student counts, lunches, attendance, tickets, and transportation has been prearranged for the field trip. Teachers are unable to scramble with last-minute arrangements on the morning of the field trip—this compromises the safety and quality of our off-campus educational experiences. Please be proactive in checking email from your child’s teacher so that you will be aware of upcoming field trips. Additionally, please have your student wear a RED SHIRT on field trip days.

What makes MWMA so different from other schools?  Is it the beautiful classrooms?  The freedom of choice?  The amazing materials?  It is all of those of course, but it is also the community we are creating.  Looking for an opportunity to be a part of that community?  Why not help us out by joining one of our new committees!  Sign up on our website under the Events and Involvement: Help Make Us Great tab.
