Gimenia was born in the Dominican Republic. She had big dreams but modest resources. One of her biggest dreams was to be a teacher. She found a unique opportunity to work as an assistant teacher at a Montessori school. She worked for 3 years while she was trying to earn her teaching degree. A strong desire to become Montessori certified led her to move to the US in 2005. There she struggled to make ends meet while pursuing further education. It was hard work, but with dedication and perseverance she was able to get certified to teach The Montessori Method from AMI (America Montessori International). Gimenia continued to work for the next twenty plus years, teaching children, developing her own Spanish curriculum, and focusing on simplifying the Montessori curriculum. Since 2019 Gimenia founded her Dual language Montessori Preschool and has been operating it to this day.
Serving K-9 students as a tuition-free, public charter school based on the globally-established Montessori philosophy of education.
