Upper Elementary Teacher

Hi all, I’m Alisha Kocs and I have been with MWMA from the beginning as an upper elementary teacher. Before MWMA, I worked a Primary Children’s Residential Treatment Facility, helping teach children (ages 5-12) with a variety of behavioral and cognitive abilities. I have also had the pleasure of working for the Youth Center at Hill Air Force Base as a Child/Youth Program Coordinator. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Utah, where I met my husband, Lance. I enjoy the Montessori philosophy because I love the hands-on style of teaching and the sense of community in the classroom. My favorite subjects are English, Literacy, and Art. I enjoy teaching in small groups, incorporating art into the classroom, and building lasting relationships with the students.

I love playing board games, hiking, camping, reading, crafting, and attending plays and musicals. My husband is a band director, so our closets are often full of musical instruments. I enjoy traveling with students and so far at MWMA I have accompanied students to Catalina Island, Yellowstone, Washington D.C., and Virginia. I wonder where we will go next year?
