My name is Doctor Sheldon Russell, and I'm excited to join the team. I have recently retired from Jordan District, where I have worked as a paraprofessional, special education teacher, administrator, and district testing coordinator. I received my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies, my Master's degree in Special Education, and my Doctorate degree in Advanced Educational Administration.
My philosophy of education is simple. If you have a student's heart, you have their mind. As educators, we have an immense power that can help shape and change students' lives for the better. It is our responsibility as educators to provide a light to our students so that they can learn to grow and shine themselves. I have a passion for special education because we can truly help to change the trajectory of the lives of students who need the most help! In doing so, we help them to find their voice!
I have been married for 32 years and have four children. My wife, as well 3 of my adult children, are all special education teachers. My youngest is a junior in high school, so we still have time to convince her to enter the field. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, collecting pop culture memorabilia, and participating in competitive powerlifting.
I look forward to learning and growing with the MWMA community.
