My name is Lee-Ann de Ridder, and I am originally from South Africa. Just over a year ago, my husband, our two daughters, and I made the exciting decision to emigrate to Salt Lake City, where we now live in the Daybreak area. Afrikaans is my home language, and I have always had a deep love for both children and animals. This summer has been especially meaningful for us. In June, we were thrilled to welcome my in-laws for a visit, and it was such a joy to share our new life in the United States with them. In July, we traveled back to South Africa to reconnect with the rest of our family and friends. Although the long journey—two days each way—was quite exhausting, the trip was filled with unforgettable moments and the opportunity to create wonderful new memories.
In terms of my educational background, I began by completing the Educare program, which focuses on children from birth to age six. I then pursued further studies in Foundation Phase Education, working with students in Grades 1 through 4. Later, I also qualified as a Pharmacist Assistant, which provided me with flexibility during the early years of raising my daughters. Now that my children are in school, I have returned to my true passion—teaching. I am currently enrolled in a Montessori teacher training program and pursuing a language certification to strengthen my skills and provide the best support to the children and families I serve.
Starting this new school year, I will be teaching in the Lower Elementary classroom. I am truly looking forward to guiding and learning alongside the children during this important stage in their development. It is a privilege to be part of a community that values independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy traveling, summer adventures, and spending time with friends and family. My experience in the United States so far has been incredibly rewarding, and I am truly excited to begin this new chapter alongside the wonderful children, families, and staff in our Montessori community.
